High Speed Videos

1. How To William Tell An Apple
This first video is of a nylon rod being shot through an apple at about 75m/s. If you look closely you can see a compression wave pass through the apple just after the rod first impacts it. (Video not working? Check it out on YouTube.)

2. Knocking Sparks From A Metal Rod
I’ve just finished shooting another high speed video in college - it’s quite long (over 5 minutes!) and it tries to show how metallic sparks behave when grinded from a rod. You’ll either find it boring as hell or fascinating. Here’s the YouTube link, I’ll post it here as soon as I can upload it (college firewalls prevent me from using ftp on campus accomodations). The grinding wheel is spinning at about 2800 and the video was shoot at just over 12000fps.
