Here’s another of my many pictures from my time in Malta, specifically at the port in Gozo. Although I took five exposures of this I only realised when looking at them that the boat was bobbing up and down with the tide so they couldn’t really be aligned
It still turned out alright from one exposure – the great thing about using one exposure in making HDRs is that you can take shots of moving objects like people, and boats!
I should have Part 3 of my HDR Tutorial up tomorrow, I spent all day in a snowball fight (I lost) so I’ll have to put in a super writing bout tomorrow

If you’re interested in knowing how I made this, along with my other photos, you can check out my HDR Tutorial

I’m working hard on using the techniques you teach (without much success yet!) and I’ve really enjoyed a lot of your work but… this is exactly the kind of HDR image that turns me off. The background details are garishly over saturated and the boat details against the sky have an “embossed” look. That is the halo effect you warn against, is it not? I like this image but feel it would be better if processed more traditionally in this case. Just my 2ยข! Please keep up your great site and sharing.
I’m glad I followed you on twitter, you have some awesome shots. I don’t like a lot of tonemapped images, but yours are nice. I still see a little bit of the haloing around the boat but it’s not bad.
I love this shot. I’ve just started experimenting with HDR and I find the technique really visually appealing. Looking forward to the next part of your tutorial!
